Southern Legislators Celebrate South Carolina with Sterling Events & Sterling Audio Visual!
Sterling Events and Sterling Audio Visual recently teamed up to help South Carolina Speaker of the House, Robert W. Harrell, Jr. host “Celebration South Carolina”, a cool blues event with a Charleston theme held during the 63rd Annual Southern Legislative Conference in Winston Salem, NC. The event was held at the Embassy Suites in downtown Winston-Salem and was attended by over 600 legislators and their guests. The event was to promote the conference’s next location, Charleston, and to showcase the dynamic between the Old South and the New.
The Sterling Events Destination Management Team developed the specialty theme for the group, with the group incorporating some signature Charlestonian touches like the Blue Dogs band, the widely popular Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, and a Coastal Cigars rolling station, all local favorites from the historic city.
To really invoke the feeling of being in the great, old Palmetto State, Sterling covered surfaces with Spanish moss, branded the space with palm trees and provided white rocking chairs for lounging.
Sterling Audio Visual joined in and created a cool monochromatic blue atmosphere using blue uplights, blue gel gobos and blue twinkling stars, essentially bringing the Carolina sky and the deep blue ocean indoors.
The cool, monochromatic look was then incorporated to create a funky lounge feel reminiscent of the rooftop bars in the New South. Sterling Events brought in crisp white lounge furniture to enhance the atmosphere along with other distinct contradictions to the more traditional elements of the Old South.
Following the event, Harrell wrote to Jan Levine, Managing Director of Sterling’s Raleigh office, “Thank you for making our reception a great success. We received many wonderful comments on the party decor you provided for our special reception. The room was truly beautiful and set the atmosphere we desired for the evening.”
